Randy Roxson, Executive Director
Randy Roxson served 30 years in the fire service before retiring in 2006 from the California State Fire Marshal’s Office, a division of Cal Fire. He began his firefighting career in 1975 at the age of 19 years old with the United States Air Force (USAF).
After serving his tour of duty of four years as a USAF Firefighter/Rescueman and earning the rank of Sergeant, Randy was honorably discharged. Randy then went on to become a civilian firefighter with the United States Navy.
Thereafter, in 1982 Randy became a Deputy State Fire Marshal with the California State Fire Marshal’s Office, where over a 24-year career, advanced to Supervising Deputy, Division Chief, and then to Assistant Deputy Director, Chief of State Fire Marshal Operations.
Randy is a 1997 graduate of the Cal Fire POST Basic Police Academy and has an Associate-in-Arts degree in Fire Technology (1981); a Bachelor-in-Arts degree in Political Science (1988); and a Juris Doctorate degree (1994).
In 1996, while employed with the California State Fire Marshal’s Office, Randy became a licensed Attorney and member of the State Bar of California. Randy has been admitted to practice law in all California State Courts as well as the 9th Circuit of the Federal Court, Eastern District. Randy continues practicing law today as a sole legal practitioner.
Randy has served both as attorney and expert witness on many fire-related cases throughout California, Arizona, and the U.S. Territory of Guam. Randy is a registered lobbyist with the State of California and has lobbied many legislative bills in California and throughout the United States.
Since 2008, Randy has proudly served as Executive Director for both the Sprinkler Fitters Association of California and the USA Sprinkler Fitters Association. Randy has said that serving the interests of union fire sprinkler fitters nationwide has been the highlight of his lengthy career in the fire service.
Trinidad J. Uribe, III, President
Trinidad Uribe was born and raised in Saint Paul, where he attended St. Thomas Academy, followed by admission into Saint Cloud State University. From there, Uribe enlisted in the US Army, serving eight years of Active Duty. He was Honorably Discharged as a Non-Commissioned Officer.
In 1999, Uribe began his apprenticeship with Local 417 Sprinkler Fitters of Minneapolis/St. Paul, graduating from the program in late 2004. Throughout his 24-year history as a Sprinkler Fitter, Uribe has held various leadership positions, including a United Association Certified Instructor for the Local 417 Training Program.
Uribe currently holds the position of Business Manager/Secretary Treasurer for the local since 2017 after serving as Vice President and Executive Board member for 12 years prior to that position. As Business Manager, he oversees the daily operations of the local union and sits as a representative for his membership on various boards for the state and local municipalities.
Uribe was elected as the President of the USA Business Managers Association – a non-profit organization that is made up of Business Managers from across the United States within the sprinkler fitter industry. As President of this organization, he (along with the other managers of the association) work with local, state, and national lawmakers, fire service organizations, and other stakeholder groups to advocate for stronger life safety legislation. Among his other duties, Uribe serves as Trustee for the following boards within the sprinkler fitter industry: the Local 417 Joint Apprentice Committee (where he sits as Chairman); the Pipe Trades Services of MN Supplemental (“PTSMN”) Pension Fund; and the National Automatic Sprinkler Industry (“NASI”) Welfare Fund (which provides coverage for over 45,000 participants nationwide).
